Rules

The event takes place according to FIE and EVF regulations

Format

Expect at least one round of poules, followed by direct elimination rounds leading up to the finals.

Important details

✔ Poules consist of 5-7 fencers to maximize fencing opportunities.

✔ Bouts in poules: 5 hits, 3 minutes.

✔ Direct elimination: 10 hits per match.

✔ Mixed age-group poules may occur when needed, with a handicap system applied to balance different age categories.

Equipment

Must conform to FIE rules:

  • Fencing suit 800N (FIE) with under plastron 800N.

  • Mask 1600N (FIE) with the new fixing technology is compulsory.

  • Use of the chest protector is mandatory

    for women and suggested for men.

  • FIE-approved blades.

Note

The organizers reserve the right to exclude

fencers with improper equipment from the competition.

Q: Is the name on the jacket mandatory?

A: The indication of the surname and nationality of the fencer on the back of his jacket and the wearing of national colors is recommended but not mandatory.

Q: What is going on with handicap system?

A: In case of a match between fencers of different categories, a negative handicap of one hit will be granted for a difference of two categories.

Examples :

  • V1/V2, V2/V3 or V3/V4 : no handicap

  • V1/V3 : V1 begins at -1

  • V2/V4 : V2 begins at -1

  • V1/V4 : V1 begins at -2
